The nine-month long upgrade to the paths around Orakei Basin is now complete, making the thirty minute walk an easy stroll right through the year. Gone are the muddy tracks on the Eastern and Southern stretches of the circuit, replaced by wider all-weather paths.

New planting will also enhance the walkway, and additional planting will soften the retaining wall by the carpark. Access has also been improved by the upgrade of the steps by Lucerne Road and the path to Upland Road.

The boardwalk between the end of Purewa Road and Orakei Road has been widened to 4.5 metres, with new skid resistant surfacing and a new balustrade with handrail lighting. The lighting has extended the hours of use of the boardwalk. This makes it easier for pedestrians and cyclists to negotiate the boardwalk.

For residents of Teal things seem to get better and better.
